The monorails always attract a crowd of kids who love to watch the Mark I's and II's speed around the track. Fewer and fewer young people are enjoying the model train hobby. Hopefully the monorails will pursuade some of them to join the fun! Thanks to my buddy David from Albuquerque (far right-top) who helps me with my layout and also takes a lot of pictures to share with you! I had basically the same layout at the RMD-TCA Holiday Show, so I am not going to add any more pictures of this layout. The layout runs extremely well, with very few glitches. The only one I seem to get is if the monorail fails to start up after stopping, then the second monorail will eventually catch up to the stopped monorail. Still, considering this happened maybe 6 times out of 32 hours of continuous operation. I probably could have prevented some of the mishaps by cleaning the monorails every once in awhile, or possibly cleaning the stopping track area every few hours. Neither of these I did. I would say the 1960's technology is pretty reliable!!! |
